Safe to assume you don't like buttermilk? Nothing more filling than buttermilk with cheese and crackers or with grilled cheese sandwich. Cookies and milk for me has to be with buttermilk. It is also good with popcorn for a snack. I prefer Purity low fat, not fat free.

Yes. Seems I have a recipe that doesn't call for as many ingredients, been a long time since I have made it, sure don't remember having to use four eggs.

Because it's "Gluten-free" or something?

If you make your own buttermilk than don't use it in this pie and don't use sugar blend because that won't work either.the pie won't set.You can cut down on the sugar but you will have a more pronounced butter flavor in your pie.

Buttermilk (and baking soda or powder) makes things like pancakes, biscuits and cakes moist and delicious. Like sour cream makes the best sugar cookies. I don't care for drinking it, unless we're having super spicy food. It cuts the heat and aids digestion. My mom used to just drink it, it would gross me out, the way it would leave trails on the glass.
I'm now curious to try a glass with some cookies and with popcorn. I put brewer's yeast on popcorn. Though this pie sounds sinfully delicious, I won't make it, too rich and sugary. I'd sure like to try a bite though!
I love yogurt. I intend to start making our own. Berry season is coming! The probiotics in yogurt and buttermilk do a body good! In ancient Persia "special" yogurt was made after they fed the poppy flower leftovers to the goats.

I notice that there's a trend more and more for people to eat things that taste like crap simply because it helps this or that internally. I'm not into the health trend. I firmly believe that you can fill your diet on yogurt and still get hit and killed by a truck on your way to work. Life is too fleeting. Everything can be gone in an instant. I think it would be better if the health-trenders campaign against cellphone use behind the wheel and other hazardous behavior to better enusre that they can eat yogurt until they're 120 ... Or cancer. There's one for ya. Cancer just seems to pop up even in people who live their lives eating and doing things that suck.

Note to Rogue:
This board is more active right now than Board With No Name. You better get over there and stir the pot. Bring back the Old Rogue except for getting bent out of shape when someone makes a general statement about Christians, which may not be applicable to you.

I saw the phrase "Buttermilk pie" from the General Menu and simply had to object based on aesthetical reasons. I had no idea that opposing opinions regarding food were not allowed here. .

I'm not into the health trend either. I'm into real food and doing the best I can to truly nurture. It's actually quite devotional to me.
Most junk food, corporate fast food, chain restaurant food, major brand name food products taste like garbage to me. Probably all that corn syrup in everything.
I've been eating and using yogurt for decades because I find it deliciously versatile, from tart cucumber yogurt dip to thick creamy yogurt with raspberries right off the vine. The benefits are added bonuses. Not all yogurt is created equally. There are plenty of brand name yogurts out there that are simply junk food.
BTW, yogurt cheese is AMAZING! You can make it with a coffee filter.

Butt milk! That's what I thought about it when my mom would drink it. LOL. I put the buttermilk in the cornbread.

I love yogurt but some of those brands add ground beetles as coloring to their yogurt .Yoplait is bad about doing this .

How do you make yogurt cheese?
Homemade Yogurt Cheese Yogurt cheese is easy to make at home from plain or flavored yogurt and comes out like a spreadable cream cheese or thick firm cottage cheese.
For plain yogurt cheese, line a strainer with a double thickness of cheesecloth or a single coffee filter, and place it over a container to catch the liquid. Spoon in the yogurt , cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate it at least overnight. The moisture will drain out and firm up the yogurt. The longer you let it drain, the firmer it becomes. Use within one week. The drained whey may be used as part of the liquid in baked goods.

Well ,that is pretty simple and straightforward. I will have to try this some time soon.
